Position Summary:The RN utilizes the knowledge basis of nursing education and experience in order to deliver nursing care using the nursing process according to the hospital’s policies, procedures, and protocols. The RN must respond to life threatening situations with appropriate nursing interventions. The RN organizes patient care delivery by prioritizing, delegating, delivering and evaluating on an ongoing basis. The operating room RN is involved in the management of the patient throughout the entire perioperative period.
Operating room experience preferred.
Current perioperative nursing certificate preferred.
Essential Job Functions:*
Demonstrates knowledge and appropriate use of the nursing process for patients in the following age groups: infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
Documents accurately and appropriately, following regulatory and hospital requirements.
Participates in the responsible management of health care resources.
Assumes responsibility for clinical competence and professional development.
Coordinates and delivers patient care during the immediate pre-operative, intra-operative and immediate post-operative periods.
Demonstrates specialty nursing skills required to provide quality peri-operative patient care.
